The Liger-Belair family has passed down the tradition of winemaking from generation to generation for the past 250 years. In 2001, Thibault Liger-Belair took over the vines as the winemaker and created Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair.
This plot of 0.3 hectares was planted in 1954 and is located on the upper part of the Charmes-Chambertin terroir known as “Aux Charmes”. Running alongside the Route des Grands Crus between Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin, this plot is opposite the border between Latricières Chambertin and Chambertin itself.
Its singular geology composed of Jurassic marl and limestone results in wines with unique finesse and generosity. It is usually vinified with around 70% in whole bunches to foster tension and freshness in the wine.
