Produced at high altitude on the slopes of the volcano, Mt.Etna, with local Nerello Mascalese grapes. This is a wine with a very complex aroma that tells of an elegant and charming territory.
Winemaking:
The Rosso is hand-picked, and de-stemmed, with a 15-day maceration and a 15-day fermentation. Secondary malolactic fermentation is followed by 8 months of aging in used oak barrels.
About the Winemaker:
Il Vulcano di Elisa is a dedication to women winemakers, a love letter to that terroir and two favourite grapes of the region: Carricante and Nerello Mascalese.
Both are wonderful varietals that drink in the organically dry-farmed nutrients that the legendary volcanic soil is known for.
Winemaker Elisa Trovato has set out on a unique journey of true dedication to the winemaking women who came before her who deeply know the volcanic land's nature. Both of her wines Carricante and Nerelo Mascalses are produced naturally, using only the yeast found on the grape’s skins. The results are exquisitely crafted, low-intervention wines that draw from the world-class terroir that is Mount Etna.
