The 2008 Château Lanessan is herbaceous, rich, and fruity, with good tannic backbone. A good medium-bodied Médoc, it offers a great claret experience and at a very reasonable price.
VARIETALS:
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS:
This would be a wonderful Christmas claret. Serve with turkey, goose or of course roast beef.
CHATEAU LLANESSAN:
Based in the Village of Cussac, Lanessan sits on the border of St, Julien and the Haut-Médoc. Lanessan counts the famed Chateaux Gruaud Larose and Beychevelle as its neighbors. By quirk of history, the chateau never sent samples to be considered in the 1855 classification and has since labored in the shadows of its famed neighbors. This historical accident translates into a great value from Bordeaux!
