The La Torre estate is located in the commune of La Sesta, approximately 8 kilometers south of Montalcino in the highest altitude section of the Brunello appellation, quite near to the lovely village of San Angelo in Colle.
The vineyards of Sangiovese Grosso (certified organic) are harvested by hand. All grapes are destemmed prior to fermentation. Only indigenous yeasts are used. Natural ferments in cement, followed by four years of aging in large Slavonian casks. All wines at the estate are bottled by gravity and are not filtered.
This unfussy methodology results in a wine of great purity, deeply marked by minerality and soil-derived elements, and devoid of oaky clunk.
95+ Wine Advocate "The organic La Torre 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is elegant and tight with floral notes, iris root and a sweet note of cherry confit or crème de cassis. It has a cushiony feel, or bounce, and the wine envelopes the whole palate without pulling too strong in any one direction. Some sweetness carries to the palate. This pretty wine would benefit from a few more years of bottle age."
