92 Pnts, Vinous
The 2022 Trousseau is a very pretty wine. This is a blend of fruit from Luchsinger and Las Cimas. Orange peel, amaro herbs, mint, spice, rosewater and white pepper lend notable aromatic and flavor intensity. What an absolute delight!
A blend from three Trousseau vineyards in the North Coast. Luchsinger, Boham and Bartolomei. Whole cluster ferment.
Soil: A combination of Vocanic cobble over ancient river stones (Luchsingers) and Goldridge soils
Vinification: Native yeasts for both primary and secondary fermentations. All of the lots were fermented using 100% whole cluster
The 2022 Trousseau saw the addition of a new planting from Las Cimas vineyard, growing in weathered sandstone in the hills of western Russian River Valley. 80% of the fruit still comes from the Luchsinger vineyard in the Big Valley of the Clear Lake AVA, grown in volcanic alluvium over ancient riverbed stones at 1,400’ elevation. Harvested and fermented separately, 75% whole-cluster, native yeast fermentation, then aged in neutral barrels and blended just before bottling. 27 barrels produced. Harvest date: 8/16, 9/11. First Vintage: 2009
