The journey of Zyr always begins with our 3 ingredients: soft red winter wheat, rye and softened water. We like to say our 4th and 5th are our know-how and our love for crafting Zyr, but for now we’ll share the three tangible ingredients. We turned to Janie’s Farms in America’s Heartland to source the finest sustainable and organic grains. We fell in love with their story and their harvest.

Zyr’s water source is from the Sankoty Aquifer in Central Illinois, a historic source of water for distilled spirits. Did you know Peoria, Illinois was the capital of distilling up until the start of Prohibition? By 1920, this small city made more whiskey than the entire state of Kentucky. At Zyr, we’re thrilled to be a part of Peoria’s renaissance.

Our master distiller, Chris Ober, receives Zyr’s proprietary blend of organic grains and mills them into a fine powder, cooks them and oversees the nearly week-long fermentation. The resulting liquid is then run through a modern 5,000 liter hybrid still. We believe in using only the hearts of our distillate, and make deep cuts, removing the heads and tails.

These hearts are then proofed and run through a series of charcoal and polishing filters, delivering a crystal clear, bright and thoroughly sippable Zyr vodka. Incredibly clean, Zyr vodka delivers a creamy texture that Zyr fans have come to love. Along with Zyr’s incredible softness, we’ve maintained our flavor. Yes, vodka should have flavor!
