The wines of Mathias Hirtzberger are cultivated and developed in some of the most beautiful locations in the Wachau - and thus one of the most beautiful regions in the world. With such rich history and terroir in the Wachau, Hirtzberger develops his wines with two concepts in mind. The first is blending the unique diversity of the winery's different microclimates and bringing it into the glass. The second is cultivating and delivering vineyard specific characteristics in the wines and creating natural images of the individual layers of the terroir that provide distinct and authentic experiences in the wines. For the winery this means a high level of mindfulness for nature, craftsmanship, a lot of time with the vines and a meticulous, very selective hand-picking. The true quality arises in the vineyard - the task in the cellar is to preserve it by the most gentle, unadulterated work.
