'Quinta Das Mars' is a rare blend of Jampal and Vital, with only 15 hectares of Vital and 3 hectares of Jampal planted worldwide. It features deep aromas of honeysuckle, golden fruit, pineapple, and a salty, briny mineral structure.
Grape varieties: 50% Jampal, 50% Vital
Lés-a-Lés Quinta das Marés Jampal & Vital is 50% Jampal and 50% Vital from the Alenquer DOC. This region has been part of the Portuguese history of winemaking for over 100 years but only in 1989 did they achieve DOC recognition. Both Jampal and Vital are local grapes to the region but have become less popular recently. The soil here is clay-limestone enabling the grapes to lend to more citric tones.
Barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts, with 30% of the blend placed in used 228 liter barrels and aged for 6 months. It is then transferred to a stainless steel tank where it remains on its lees for a further 6 months. Because of the soil and grape variety the Quinta das Marés is young and fresh and makes a great friend to seafood.
