More about the Winery:

For generations, members of the Sáenz de Samaniego family have been dedicated to viticulture. In fact, there is evidence of our relationship with the vineyard since the sixteenth century, when our ancestors used a winery located in the neighborhood of Matarredo, with underground cellars carved into the rockIn the early 70's were our parents, Doroteo and María Asunción, who decided to market their own wines combining a strong commitment to work, their vision of the future and perseverance They built a new winery, the one that exists today, attached to a mansion built in the eighteenth century as an inn on the road from Laguardia to Vitoria (‘Ostatu’ means inn, in Basque), and which was, until 2009, our family home. Our work philosophy, based on respect for the land, provides us a way to understand Wine, and life, focused on the pursuit of excellence through the balance between yesterday and today, without being aware of trends. A philosophy transferable not only to our work style, or to our winery, but is present in each of our wines. These are a faithful reflection of our vineyards, of the influence exerted by the microclimate of Rioja Alavesa and the soils on which they are settled.
