Segla is the second wine from Chateau Rauzan-Segla, born from the youngest vines of the property. Since 1994, when CHANEL purchased the property, many changes have occurred: renovations of the buildings, the vat room, and even in the vineyard. The objective is to produce an outstanding second wine with a good quality to price ratio, while respecting the Margaux terroir and affording those enjoying it a glimpse into the first wine of the Chateau. 88-92 Robert Parker The 2012 Segla is an impressive second wine, no doubt because of the serious crop-thinning that was employed at Rauzan Segla and the modest yields of 36 hectoliters per hectare. A blend of 47% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc, its exhibits an opaque purple color, outstanding ripeness, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and represents only about 25% of the total crop. Surprisingly dense with sweet tannins and an expansive, pure, perfumed style, it should drink well for a minimum of ten years.
