The new guard of Bordeaux is on the rise, and this generation of winemakers is bringing attention to otherwise overlooked areas like the Cotes-du-Bourg. The Hubert family is fully committed to biodynamic viticulture, and their wines are absolutely stunning. 'Energies' is from an older parcel in their vineyard that yields tiny bits of dense and structured Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. After a cool fermentation, the wine is aged in clay amphorae for one year then bottled unfiltered. Its aromas lean more toward black fruits, with noticeable earthy undertones and the palate is rich but lively, lingering on dark chocolate notes. It's Bordeaux without the corduroy and ascot, but rather a t-shirt and leather jacket.
