Colares is a small DOC on the the coast, northwest of Lisbon. It is one of Portugal's most ancient areas and entirely planted on sand. Their vines are all original, ungrafted, and very old. The red grape in Colares is called Ramisco, which is grown nowhere else. Known for exquisite wines since the late 18th century, the limited edition wines are soon becoming some of the world’s most treasured keeps.
