The winery is run by the enthusiastic and talented Roberto Olivan Igesias in 2011 in the area of Rioja Alavesa, situated at the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria Mountains. The highest altitude is 650M and the lowest 450M, hence a diversity in soils and microclimates. The Bodegas is divided in 22 parcels with vines ranging between 15 to 80 years old. They are all influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Roberto’s approach is definitely avant-gardist or traditional… in Rioja. He farms organically, does his own massale selection, only gobelet pruning and manages the yields to obtain balance and ripeness. In the cellar, Roberto is pragmatic, only indigenous yeasts are used, no intrants except SO2 at different moment of the vinification and before bottling, pigeage by feet and aging in used French barrels.
