Domaine Begude is located in Limoux, in the eastern foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains in Southern France. The topography and strong Atlantic influences make it one of the coolest areas in the region, with ideal conditions for slow, even ripening of the Chardonnay grapes. The vineyards are planted in 70 acres of rocky limestone, surrounding the winery and owners', Catherine and James Kingslake's, home. Domaine Begude is devoted to environmentally sustainable practices and their grapes are organically grown. Only organic sheep manure is used for fertilizer, the vines are dry farmed and weeding is done manually, with no pesticides used. The aim at Domaine Begude is to "make excellent wine from long established high-quality terroir...wines reminiscent of the new world, but with the elegance of the old..." Immediate pressing; cool-fermented in stainless steel tank. Fresh & zesty citrus flavours with hints of apple and pear.
