Brimming with notes of black currants, violets, rose petals, and black cherry with a hint of camphor. The wine is plush and round on the palate with fine mountain tannins and a long, satiny finish. -- winemaker
Brandlin Vineyard is located on a Mount Veeder ridgeline, in the southern Mayacamas Range on Napa Valley’s west side. Perched at 900 to 1,200 feet in elevation, and located above the fog line - like an island in the sky - the vineyard is divided into 15 discrete blocks facing every point on the compass. Grapes develop a high skin to flesh ratio, resulting in richly concentrated wines of great complexity, with firm tannin structure for long-term aging.
The wines pay homage to the Brandlin family, which began farming wine grapes on Mount Veeder in the 1870’s and established the Brandlin Vineyard in 1926. In 1998 Cuvaison Estate Wines was honored by Henry’s son, Chester Brandlin, with rights to purchase Brandlin Vineyard. Respectfully maintaining the integrity of the estate, only a fraction of the land has been planted to vineyards carefully designed to honor the integral beauty of the property.
